The Hague Museum of Photography and GEM museum of contemporary art are closed for a period of building work. The Museum of Photography is to be enlarged to accommodate a still more attractive range of events, while GEM will remain an important platform for contemporary art. The two museums will re-open on Saturday 17 December with a number of new exhibitions. The shows at the Hague Museum of Photography will include a major centenary retrospective of the entire oeuvre of legendary Magnum photographer Werner Bischof (1916-1954) and the first ever Dutch solo exhibition by Belgian photographer Lara Gasparotto. GEM will re-open with a tribute to Sol LeWitt. The neighbouring Gemeentemuseum Den Haag will remain open at usual throughout the period.
