14 – 20 november 2025, Atelier Néerlandais, Paris
Â
During Paris Photo, the Hague Museum of Photography presents a special exhibition of Mixedness is my Mythology by South African–Dutch photographer Farren van Wyk at Atelier Néerlandais in Paris. The presentation will be on view from November 14 to 20, 2025. For current opening hours, please visit atelierneerlandais.com .
Â
In Mixedness is my Mythology, Van Wyk explores the complex historical relationship between South Africa and the Netherlands — shaped by migration, ethnicity, colonialism, and apartheid. Born in the final year of apartheid to a South African mother and a Dutch father, she reflects on her personal experience of “mixedness” within different social and cultural contexts.
Â
Van Wyk deliberately works in black and white, a choice that allows her to move beyond the notion of “color” and to redefine the visual language of identity. Her work is both personal and universal, inviting viewers to reflect on questions of heritage, representation, and self-image.
Â
A selection of works from Mixedness is my Mythology will be on display at Atelier Néerlandais from November 14 to 20, 2025. The full project will be shown at the Hague Museum of Photography in April 2026.
